Playing Hi Lo Blackjack

The new game Hi Lo Blackjack is a new one to play 21. It is a version of online blackjack in which there are two games in one. There is the standard game of blackjack in which you attempt to collect cards adding up to twenty-one without going over. In the regular game, if you come closer to twenty-one than the dealer, you win that game of online budget and win your wager. In Hi lo Blackjack, you also have the option of placing a side bet which you can win or lose independent of the rest of the game of online blackjack.

Starting Hi Lo Blackjack

Start the game by placing your chips on the table where it says "Click To Place Bets." These chips are your regular online blackjack bet. In addition to these betting areas, the board will also show you three circles marked "Lo," "13," and "Hi." Place the Hi Lo Blackjack side bet by placing chips in one of these circles. It is not required to bet the Hi Lo Blackjack side bet every round.

Winning in Hi Lo Blackjack

Here the side bet is similar to roulette bets. If you bet low, then you are betting that the sum of your first two cards will be less than 13. Likewise, you can bet that the sum will be higher than 13 or 13 exactly. The odds of it being 13 exactly are against you, but if you do place this bet and win, you win more than any other bet on the table. This Hi Lo Blackjack side bet is based on just the first two cards and so you know right away if you win or lose the side bet. At that point, you continue with the regular game of online blackjack. So you could win (or lose) twice in every round of online blackjack. It certainly represents a new twist to when you play 21 online.

How to Value Aces in Hi Lo Blackjack

In the Hi Lo Blackjack side bet, Aces always count as one. This is different than in the regular game of online blackjack in which you can choose to count the Aces has one or eleven. So an Ace and a ten or an Ace and any face card add up to 11 for the purpose of the side bet and a twenty-one in the regular game. If you had placed a wager on Lo, then you would have won twice in such a round. A winning Lo or Hi side bet pays out dollar to dollar on your bet. If you bet 13 and the cards add up to 13, you win ten dollars for every one you bet.
